The first ever iawards took place on 16 November 2009 at the Science Museum in London. The awards, started by James Caan of Dragon's Den fame and Lord Drayson, Science and Innovation Minister, honour innovation in Science and Technology. Ocula won in the category of Entertainment & Media against stiff competition.
