Trinity College Dublin is Ireland's premier University. Founded in 1592, Trinity has grown to comprise the six faculties of Arts (Humanities); Arts (Letters); Business, Economic and Social Studies; Engineering and Systems Sciences; Health Sciences; and Science.
Trinity College is the leading research institute in Ireland in terms of income, output such as papers, patents, spin-off companies and company based projects. TCD's research income currently stands at 52 million. Data for September 2003 showed 170 active EC accounts with the College and 42 contracts (EC and Non EC) with Trinity as coordinator and 957 research staff employed on sponsored research. The total number of research accounts at that time was 1,277. Trinity College has been an active participant in all the Framework Programmes.
Sigmedia.tv was formed in 1998 when Dr. Anil Kokaram took up the appointment of lecturer at Trinity College Dublin. It is involved in three domains of research in the broad area of image sequence processing: Digital Cinema, Video over Wireless and Content Based Media Analysis. There are about ten researchers in the group including 8 graduate students and 2 post-doctoral researchers. Three researchers from this group will be involved with i3DPost.
